2 Day Action Tank Summary:

On day one (Nov 17), we will be inspired by keynotes, explore best practices and unique strengths of six primary social and economic sectors in building a sustainable world. Outcome: 5 guiding principals for each PIE (Partners In Empowerment Sector) as the foundation for a mutually supportive and collaborative global operating system.

On day two (Nov 18), we will co-create powerful initiatives honoring the unique mission, expertise and resources of each to achieve an impact greater than the sum of our parts. Outcome: Integrate the goals, needs, vision, talent and insights from all participants into collaboration roadmap report for 2009 and beyond.

AM (11:30-12:30) Interactive: Cross-Sector Solution Design 101 (Fun & stimulating for beginners and veterans alike) Facilitated by Melanie St.James (Empowerment Works), Pilar Stella Ingargiola (OneGiving.com) , Kim Weichel (World Cafe facilitator) with intro visualization by Gurutej.

  • Activities: Groups of 6 sectors co-create local or global solution to core issue. Providing opportunity to step into alternative economic roles this session empowers participants to: (a) creatively apply resources at hand, (b) advance mutual goals, communication and understanding between partners across diverse social & economic backgrounds/disciplines, (c) design mutually supportive sustainability into your projects.
  • Focus/Outcome: Stretch project budgets and deepen your social impact by engaging diverse social economic sectors in successful collaboration.

  • Group representatives share outcomes with plenary. Partners In Empowerment (PIE) Best Practice Presentations & Panel - Expert co-chairs demonstrate solutions and develop context for six diverse social and economic sectors.

  • Each sector develops guiding principals enabling best practices for each to build a sustainable world. Needs and goals of each group inform development of TGS programming:

    Collaborating Nonprofits - While all Partners in Empowerment are devoted to positive change, because of their legally structured, charitable purpose, nonprofits are measured by their social impact bottom line. Working in transparent integrity, nonprofits unite all stakeholders in collaborative, win-win solutions."

    Sustainable Businesses - “Leading by example in demonstrating exceptional corporate social responsibility and harnessing market forces for positive social and environmental impact”

    Educational Institutions - “Providing the public with the confidence of fact based, unbiased research to support effective policy making and creative solutions.”

10:45: 11:30AM - Community Dialogue: Information Technologies (IT), Collective Intelligence & Indigenous Wisdom

Featured Speakers: John Perry Barlow - Founder, Electronic Frontier Foundation, Chris Macrae (Grameen.tv), Scott Badenoch (Creative Citizen), Anank Nunkai (Shuar Shaman), Jeff Buderer (OneVillage Foundation), Sheilah Evans (Dailymiracles.org), Sophie LaPaire (Bridgemakers Consulting).

Charged with the task of empowering grass-roots digital access to TGS 2009, this session represents a special opportunity "to bridge the digital divide". To seize it, Private, Public and Civil Society participants converge with ICT visionaries to demonstrate emerging appropriate technology, assess gaps, and set new milestones. TOPICS: 1) Asses leading edge information and communication technology on how grassroots input will contribute. 2) Intersection of latest tech with Ancient wisdom. 3) Social justice through ICT access/ YOUR VOICE MATTERS CAMPAIGN 4) Vision for next steps / Recommendations > TGS.

Focus/Outcome: Blueprint for world's first global citizen voter platform & plan launch of Your Voice Matters campaign.

1:30 - 3 PM - Five (Concurrent) Collaboration BreakTHROUGH Sessions

  • Participants have opportunity to co-create TGS 2009 programs advancing their own unique mission while deepening collective impact.

    Program Sessions include:

  • Policy Action Sessions/ policy making system – Applying advances in communications technology and conflict mediation, TGS’ voluntary commitment forums unite globally elected civil society representatives from 6 PIE sectors with grass-roots stakeholders. Agreements made will be showcased on 1PIE Portal. Focus/Outcome: Ensure the voices of those most affected by climate change, AIDS, and poverty are heard.

    Sustainable Technology Expo – Demonstrate cleanest and greenest appropriate technologies in energy, health, agriculture, transportation, etc. to businesses, public representatives, and international development organizations. Focus/Outcome: Disseminate what works best to where its needed most - channel investments to develop best products to economies of scale.

    SEE Change Forum – Social, economic, & environmental visionaries empower diverse sectors of society (Social Entrepreneurs, Collaborating Non-profits, Educational Institutions, Sustainable Businesses, Responsible Media Groups, & Artists in Action) to co-create a healthier, culturally rich and bio-diverse world. Focus/Outcome: Participants in 2009 have skills & tools to implement ongoing multi-sector collaborations with extended network throughout the year.

    A-list Concert & Culture – For millennium, artists have been the catalysts of lasting social change. TGS will feature one major A-List concert broadcast worldwide, complimented by additional art installations, short films, and theatrical dance performances throughout. Focus/Outcome: Harness creative power to inspire global awareness and localized action.

1PIE Global Collaboration Portal – During annual events, 1PIE will support real-time global access (and input). Around the year 1PIE is the follow up plan, showcasing impact and implementation of promises made in Policy Action Sessions showcasing members with greatest social and environmental impact. 1PIE unites members in local programs through joint needs assessments, evaluations and shared resource platforms. Focus/Outcome: Align goals of existing online portals in collaboration architecture.

3:30 - 5PM - Vision into Action Community Forum

  • Program sessions re-unite with larger community to exchange outcomes, new visions and advance partnership strategies for TGS 2009!

Collaboration Tools: Chris Bui & 5TH Medium I.C. (Interactive Communications), an organizational development and interactive meeting movement with a vision to revolutionize the way communities, local governments, corporations and nonprofits communicate, build consensus, achieve goals, and change their world.
